Life to Her Years :: Elena + Mario

La semana pasada tuve la oportunidad de tomarle algunas fotos a Mario y a Elena, su hija de casi 2 años. La idea era lograr algunas imágenes para su regalo sorpresa del día de las madres. Para ser sincero, no sabía que esperar… ni del tiempo que pasaríamos juntos durante la sesión, ni del resultado final, ya que solo acostumbro tomar fotos a parejas o familias completas.

Pero ¿qué creen? La pasé increíble y al final de la sesión, no me dejaba de preguntar a mi mismo, ¿cómo puedo llegar a ser un papá de ensueño para mi pequeña Valentina?

Entonces encontré el blog…  Life to her Years, del cual tomé los 10 consejos que más me gustaron, para compartirlos con ustedes, algunos tal cual como los encontrarán ahí, otros quizás con pequeñas modificaciones…

1. Dedica tiempo todos los días a cargarla en tus brazos. Una sana dosis de apapachos durante la infancia les durará a ambos toda la vida.
2. Baila con ella. Comienza cuando ella es una niña o incluso cuando ella es todavía un bebé. No esperes hasta el día de su boda.
3. Ella es tan inteligente como cualquier niño . Asegúrate de que ella lo sabe. Y también dile lo bonita que es, ¡todos los días!
4. Darle un paseo sobre tus hombres es magia pura . Hazlo ahora, mientras tu espalda es lo suficientemente fuerte y ella es todavía pequeña.
5. Anima a su estrella de rock o al artista que lleva dentro. Después de un rato es posible que ya no necesite ninguna ayuda para expresarse.
6. Llévala a una cita. Muéstrale cómo debe ser tratada cuando cumpla 30 y pueda comenzar a salir con alguien más. ¿Dije 30? Déjame y lo pienso bien…
7. Dale una cámara y anímala tomar muchas fotos. Es una gran manera de ver el mundo a través de sus ojos. Y mucho más importante aún, tómense muchas fotos juntos, uno nunca sabe cuando algunos de ustedes no va a estar para sonreír a la cámara.
8. Algún día aprenderá a dar besos, ella querrá besuquearte en todo el rostro. Anima esa práctica.
9. Trata a sus dibujos como grandes obras de arte. Cuélgalas en tu oficina. Ella vendrá a visitar algún día y se dará cuenta cuanto la amas.
10. Cuando la lleves a la playa por primera vez, ella probablemente tratará de comer la arena. No te alteres tanto cuando esto suceda. Sólo recuerda que su próximo pañal estará lleno de cemento.

Last week I had the opportunity to take some pictures for Mario and Elena, his almost 2 years old daughter. The idea was to get some images for their mothers day surprise gift. To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect … nor the time we were going to spend together during the session, neither about the final result. Why? because I only take pictures of couples or entire families.

But guess what? I had a amazing time and at the end of the shooting, I just kept asking myself, how can I become a dream dad for my little Valentina?

Then I found this blog… Life to Her Years, from which I took the 10 tips that I liked the most to share with you, some as you may find there, others perhaps with minor modifications.

1. Spend time each day holding her in your arms. A healthy does of this throughout her childhood will last you both a lifetime.
2. Dance with her. Start when she’s a little girl or even when she’s a baby. Don’t wait ‘til her wedding day.
3. She’s as smart as any boy. Make sure she knows that. And tell her how pretty she is, everyday!
4. Letting her ride on your shoulders is pure magic. Do it now while you have a strong back and she’s still tiny.
5. Encourage her inner rockstar & artist. Then again, she may not need any help in this área.
6. Take her on a date. Show her how she should expect to be treated when she turns 30 and can start dating anyone other than you. Did I say 30? Let me think about it…
7. Give her a camera and encourage her take lots of pictures. It’s a great way to see the world through her eyes & take lots of pictures together. You never know when one of you won’t be around to smile for the camera anymore.
8. When she learns to give kisses, she will want to plant them all over your face. Encourage this practice.
9. Treat her drawings like beautiful works of art. Hang them up in your office. She’ll come to visit you someday and it may finally hit her just how much you really love everything about her.
10. When you take her to the beach for the first time, she will probably try to eat the sand. Don’t freak out when it happens. Just remember her next diaper will be filled with cement.
